STRICTLY Come Dancing star Neil Jones has been blasted by fans after claiming he hasn’t eaten for four days  The professional dancer, 36, says he has been surviving on only water for the past 96 hours, and insists he’s doing it for the health benefits  He wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe I managed 4 DAYS of fasting. that’s 96 hrs with no food and only drinking water  “I’ve been asked soooo many times why am I doing this and it’s mainly for the health benefits such as insulin resistance, fighting cancer, heart disease and arthritis and cleaning my body but also will power  “I can honestly say it was not easy and I have been preparing for about 3 weeks by cutting down my meal intake and type of foods  “If you are considering a fast please get medical advice because it can be dangerous and every body is completely different  “Now my fast has ended I am feeling very hungry but u can’t just eat what ever you want  “I started with a miso soup and every few hours I will eat something which is liquid base because that way I won’t upset my stomach  “In all honesty I feel fantastic and my skin is glowing and it was a great experience for my mind and body What would your first main be if you could eat anything?”  But his followers were not impressed – with many warning him that his young fans might try and copy him  One wrote: “Please be careful. From what I’ve read it’s not advised to do more they 72 hours  “The long term effects of doing this aren’t understood, so whilst it may have some merit, it may also be harmful in the longer term ”  Another said: “I do hope that none of your younger and more vulnerable fans decide to follow your lead  “If we disagree we can as you say unfollow, but how would you feel if someone with an ED who looks up to you became ill as a consequence of you extolling the virtues of starving yourself for four days with nothing but water?  “Rather than defending your comments just take a moment to think, that’s all ”  A third wrote: “This is really not great in terms of disordered eating.  “And it’s really really triggering for those of us with eating disorders  “Please think before discussing topics that can be so harmful.
